Resident Evil: Extinction

11 November 2007 | No Comments | Archive/Search

Last night we saw Resident Evil: Extinction, the third movie in the series. I really enjoyed the first one when it came out, but the second one was lacking quite a bit in my opinion. I had heard good things about the new one, so I was hopeful as we sat down to watch it. Overall, I think it was nearly as good as the first one!

You don’t really have to know much about the first two movies to understand Extinction, but it makes a little more sense overall if you do. They do an adequate job of “catching you up”, but there could have been a slight bit more detail on who and what Alice actually is.

One thing that I really enjoyed about this movie was the zombie factor. I am a sucker for a good zombie movie and Extinction really played that part up. The blood and gore was good, but not horribly over the top, and I liked the direction they took the story line.

Additionally, if you are a fan of classic horror movies like Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, there is one scene in this movie that you will really like!

One thing that I always like about Milla Jovovich is that she does a good job of being nearly nude without actually showing anything. I am not a fan of senseless nudity in horror/thriller movies, so this just ups the enjoyment on my part. She also had far less cheesy lines this time around, which is good.

At the end of the movie I got the feeling that there is probably going to be another Resident Evil movie, which is just fine with me. I’ll go see it!
